KABARDINO-BALKARIA POLICE PREVENTS TERROR ACT
Baku, May 24 (AZERTAC). An explosive device has been found in the Eternal Flame Memorial in the Tyrnyauz city of the Kabardino-Balkaria republic, according to press service of the Interior Ministry of Kabardino-Balkaria.
The power of the device is about 1 kg.
“Taking into account the mass people gathering at the memorial on weekends, the proximity of high-rise buildings and a mechanism supplying natural gas to the memorial the bomb`s explosion would cause numerous casualties and mass destruction,” the police official stressed.
According to him, a terrorist act “aimed at the destabilization of the situation in the republic has been prevented thanks to timely actions of officers of the Interior Ministry and Federal Security Service`s department for Kabardino-Balkaria.”
“A group of investigators and operatives, bomb experts are working at the site, measures are being taken to identify and detain the organizers of the subversion-terrorist act,” the republic`s Interior Ministry noted.
