Ombudswoman of Azerbaijan meets representative of "Amnesty International"
Baku, March 18 (AZERTAC). Ombudswoman of Azerbaijan Republic Elmira Suleymanova met the expert of the "Amnesty International" organization for the Europe and Central Asia program Natalia Nozadze.
At the meeting E. Suleymanova brought to the attention of N. Nozadze that in Azerbaijan the National Plan of action on protection of human rights is being successfully realized and public hearings have been carried out in connection with propagation of the plan and monitoring of its application in all areas.
The representative on human rights noted that Azerbaijan has adopted the "Law on approval of the United Nations Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment". On the basis of the law, the Ombudsman Office regularly conducts surveys of the places of confinement, temporary detention facilities, penitentiary establishments, psychiatric hospitals, houses for aged and children` homes.
Noting fruitful activity of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan in the field of protection of human rights, N. Nozadze interested in the monitoring of the condition of prisoner Eynulla Fatullaeyev and also Jabbar Savalanly arrested administratively and Bakhtiyar Hajiyev.
Ombudswoman has in detail informed on the legal editions prepared at the Office and presented to the guest the annual reports.
