PA BSEC CONFERENCE HELD IN ISTANBUL
At the Conference, secretary of the PA BSEC Aleksey Kuryavtsev said Azerbaijan Ombudswoman initiated the action last year in Kiev.
Also was speaking at the event, the renowned politician of Turkey, ex-president Suleyman Demirel, who dwelt on the role of ombudsmen in achieving peace and development in region. Soon Turkey will create its Ombudsman institution, he announced.
Ombudsman of Albania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Greece, as well as representatives from Russia and Romania shared their suggestions.
Ms. Suleymanova spoke of the role of Ombudsman in settlement of social problems, development of democracy, ensuring human rights and freedoms. She also gave detailed information on plight of over one million of refugees and IDPs ousted from their homelands, on colossal human and material damage the Armenian aggression caused to the moral and cultural values in the occupied areas in Azerbaijan.
Ms. Suleymanova offered to convene similar gatherings on regular basis to define the cooperation strategy and priorities of the Black Sea countries.
Participants have accepted a Statement of the ombudsman of the OBSEC member countries.
