President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, state and government officials as well as representative of the public gathered on 25 February at the monument “The Cry of the Motherland” in Khatai district of Baku to commemorate the victims of the Khojaly tragedy. The President laid a wreath at the memorial monument.

Fourteen years ago, late at night on February 25 - 26, Armenian armed groups supported by the Soviet Army’s motorized infantry regiment #366 assaulted the town of Khojaly killing its innocent residents including children, women and old people with unprecedented brutality. Ever since, the victims of the Khojaly massacre, has been honored both in the country and far beyond its borders every year.

Participants of the ceremony voiced that this one of the most savage massacres of the XX century was just one more bloody consequence of the everlasting policy of genocide against the people of Azerbaijan the Armenia nationalist have pursued in the effort to achieve their territorial ambitions. They pointed out the importance of international organizations’ awareness of the event.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov, Chief of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, as well as ministers, heads of committees and other officials.
