The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Việt Nam, 13th term, convened in Hà Nội on Saturday, bringing significant changes to the Party's top leadership, according to Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

The conference unanimously elected Tô Lâm, a member of the Politburo, the President of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam, to be the new General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam.

Newly-elected General Secretary Tô Lâm addressed the conference and held a subsequent press conference on the same day.
