Presidential elections in Kazakhstan meet international standards, TurkPA
Baku, April 7 (AZERTAC). The mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries recognized the presidential elections in Kazakhstan as legitimate and corresponding to international standards.
TurkPA mission carried out short-term monitoring on revealing of conformity of the elections to the national legislation of the country and its international obligations.
In the widespread statement of TurkPA it is said that the group of observers has freely observed the elections on the basis of principles of objectivity, transparency and impartiality, fixed in corresponding standard-legal documents of the United Nations and the Council of Europe recommendations. Voting has passed in quiet and working conditions. The Central Election Commission operatively and regularly informed the public on initial results.
At the same time, there were some technical shortages which are not rendering negative influence on results of elections. The international observers consider that similar lacks are characteristic for all modern elections. The TurkPA group of observers especially underlines that these lacks didn`t carry large-scale character.
Participation of the international and local observers in all stages of elections has even more raised transparency of election process. Will of the people of Kazakhstan, high activity of voters and wide representation of observers at each level confirm that elections have passed in democratic and free conditions.
The voting process took place in peaceful atmosphere in the presence of international observers. Democratic elections confirmed the will of the people.
International observation mission of TurkPA states that extraordinary presidential elections which have passed on April 3 in the Republic of Kazakhstan corresponds to the international standards and recognizes their results.
