Uzbek MP highlights concrete opportunities offered by bilateral relations with Azerbaijan
Baku, August 24, AZERTAC
“The state visit of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan has gained significant momentum in Bukhara. The continuation of dialogue between the two leaders in one of the region’s most ancient cultural hubs, following the high-level talks in Tashkent, is particularly significant. In this context, Bukhara serves not merely as a protocol stop, but as a space where the political alliance gains historical and humanitarian context. On August 24, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva were welcomed at Bukhara International Airport by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his spouse, Ziroatkhon Mirziyoyeva. The program includes visits to historical landmarks and familiarization with local industrial enterprises,” Abira Huseynova, Regional Representative of the Ombudsman of Uzbekistan in Bukhara, told AZERTAC.
According to her, the signing of the protocol on the establishment of sister-city relations between Lachin and Bukhara is another important highlight of the Azerbaijani President’s state visit.
The overarching takeaway from this visit, she added, is that Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations are steadily evolving from a diplomacy of agreements to a diplomacy of concrete opportunities for regions and citizens alike.
“President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Bukhara marks a new chapter in which state-level trust seamlessly translates into lasting connections between territories, institutions, and people,” the Uzbek official concluded.
