Kazakh Central Election Commission announces preliminary Qurultay election results

Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced the preliminary results of the elections to the unicameral parliament, the Qurultay, held on August 23, a Kazinform News Agency correspondent reported.
CEC Secretary Shavkhat Utemisov said 12,623,289 voters were registered for the election, while 9,351,539 citizens cast their ballots. Preliminary voter turnout stood at 74.08%, he added.
According to the preliminary results, the Adilet party received 6,528,948 votes, accounting for 71.17% of the total.
The National Social Democratic Party received 469,058 votes, or 5.11%.
The Baytaq Green Party secured 97,751 votes, or 1.07%, while the People’s Party of Kazakhstan received 285,395 votes, representing 3.11%.
The Auyl Party was backed by 574,621 voters, or 6.26%.
The Ak Zhol Democratic Party of Kazakhstan received 478,083 votes, or 5.21%, while Respublica secured 509,631 votes, equivalent to 5.56%.
Meanwhile, 2.51% of voters chose the “against all” option.
