Turkish MP addresses parliament on Khojaly genocide
Ankara, February 10 (AZERTAC). Member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Sinan Ogan spoke of the Khojaly genocide in the plenary session of the Turkish parliament.
Ogan congratulated the Turkish MPs on 97th anniversary of liberation of Erzincan from the Armenian-Russian occupation. He recalled a number of crimes perpetuated by Armenians in the different regions of Turkey, adding the latest act of vandalism by Armenians was committed in Azerbaijan`s town of Khojaly 20 years ago. The Turkish parliament has to give a political evaluation to this genocide.
The Turkish MP stated that brutalities committed by Armenians were reflected in Russia`s “Izvestiya”, France`s “Le Monde” newspapers. The authors mentioned that people there were tortured, dismembered and scalped with pregnant women ripped open. The Azerbaijani parliament recognized this massacre as “genocide”.
“We have also presented the relevant bill to the TBMM. But the proposal to put the relevant bill onto the agenda of the Foreign Relations Commission has not been accepted. I hope this proposal will be accepted. We have also suggested naming the Dogol avenue in Ankara after one of the Khojaly victims,” he said.
Ogan pointed out that the TBMM has to discuss the Khojaly genocide in the plenary session.
