Turkish Prime Minister visits Kazan
Baku, March 17 (AZERTAC). Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Kazan as part of his working visit to the Russian Federation on March 16. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Tatarstan State Council Deputy Chairman Rimma Ratnikova met the guest at Kazan International Airport.
Greeting the members of the delegation at the official reception, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnnikhanov emphasized that it was a great honour for the republic to have the opportunity to receive such important guests.
The Tatarstan head thanked Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the contacts between the two countries and in particular marked Kazan`s hosting the Inter-Governmental Russia-Turkey Commission on economic cooperation and the good attitude to the memory of the Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai in Turkey. “We`ll respond in the same way,” the Tatarstan President assured.
At the official meeting Rustam Minnikhanov said that the leadership of the republic was pleased to have the long-anticipated visit by the Turkish Prime Minister.
Rustam Minnikhanov remarked that Turkey was changing to the best. “Your country is becoming competitive, efficient. It is nice that in any part of the world we can meet successful Turkish businessmen,” he said.
Rustam Minnikhanov went on to say that thanks to the support of Mr. Erdogan Tatarstan and Turkey laid a good foundation for the development of economic relations.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for the hospitality: “It was my long-held dream to visit Tatarstan and I`m happy to be the first Prime Minister of Turkey to visit your republic.”
Kazan became a second point on the agenda of the working visit by Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Russia where on Wednesday he visited Moscow and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
