Baku, September 6 (AZERTAC). Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai has praised Azerbaijan`s tourism sector, saying it is developing.

Speaking to journalists in Baku, where he will attend Flavours of the Silk Road: International Conference on Food, Culture and Tourism, Rifai hailed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev`s attention to tourism industry.

“As the country lies on one of the routes of the ancient Silk Road, connecting Europe and the East, we have chosen Azerbaijan as a host city for the conference.”

The UNWTO Secretary general stressed the importance of the conference, saying it will contribute to boosting experience exchange among countries on the silk Road, as well as to promoting Azerbaijan`s culinary and tourism potential.
