US CONGRESSMAN WELCOMES SENATE COMMITTEE`S DECISION ON BRYZA
Washington, September 23 (AZERTAC). US Congressman Michael McMahon has welcomed the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations` approval of Matthew Bryza`s nomination as a US ambassador to Azerbaijan.
McMahon called Azerbaijan the United States` important ally in the anti-terror war.
The Congressman also praised Azerbaijan`s energy potential, saying the country is “an important energy producer and energy corridor”.
McMahon, a member of the Congressional Azerbaijan Caucus, called on chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee John Kerry and the Republican leader of the Foreign Relations Committee Richard Lugar to support Bryza`s nomination.
Meanwhile, American Azerbaijanis and other supporters of Bryza sent thank you letters to the Senate`s committee, praising its approval of the candidacy of the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
