WADA presidential election to take place on November 7, 2019 in Poland

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) presidential election is set to take place on November 7, 2019 in the Polish city of Katowice, according to TASS. The date and location of the WADA Foundation Board Meeting, during which the election will be held, were agreed during Wednesday’s session of the WADA Executive Committee in Baku.
Current WADA President Craig Reedie, who has been heading the organization since 2013, will leave his post after the expiration of his term of office. According to the rules of the organization, the next head of WADA must be a state official, as Reedie represented the sports community.
So far, the candidates for WADA head are Norwegian Minister for Children and Equality Linda Helleland, who currently serves as WADA vice president, and Polish Minister of Sport Witold Banka.
On November 15, a meeting of the WADA Foundation Board will take place in Baku, during which they will agree on the rules of procedure for the upcoming elections.
