120 adobe houses collapsed in 5.5 magnitude earthquake in Peru

The Peruvian Institute of Geophysics (IGP) National Seismological Center announced that the epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 12 kilometers, was 198 kilometers north of the city of Cayllom in the Arequipa region of the country, according to Politics Headlines.
In the Maca district of Cayllom, where 19 aftershocks occurred during the day, 120 adobe houses were completely destroyed.
Authorities stated that there was an urgent request for help from the region and that more than 100 families living in these houses needed tents and food.
There was an earthquake of 5.2 magnitude in the same region on August 14, 2016, and 750 families were left homeless.
Peru, one of the countries with the highest seismic activity in the world, is located in the Pacific Earthquake Belt, also known as the “Ring of Fire”.
