13th session of GUAM Foreign Ministers council held in Astana
Baku, December 4 (AZERTAC). Under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Konstantin Grishchenko the 13th session of the GUAM Council of Foreign Ministers was held in Astana.
The deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov, the secretary general of GUAM Valery Chechelashvili, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Grigol Vashadze, the deputy minister of foreign affairs and the European integration of Moldova Andrey Popov, the deputy minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin took part at the session.
The Council took into consideration the information on the course of implementation of the Plan of Action of the organization till the end of 2010, and discussed questions of interaction in the frame of the Article 14 of the Agenda of 65th session of General Assembly of the United Nations "Prolonged conflicts on GUAM space and their consequences for international peace, security and development" and concerning the draft resolution "Cooperation between the United Nations and GUAM". Then, the session made decision on approval of the Plan of interaction of diplomatic representatives of GUAM member states to other international organizations for 2010-2011s.
The Council discussed questions of branch cooperation, and decided to set up a Joint commission concerning cooperation in the field of the prevention of emergency situations and liquidation of their consequences.
The session also discussed the question on presidency transition in the Organization and GUAM for the next term making decision on appointment of the Secretary General.
The next session of the Council is planned to take place in January-February 2011.
