Moscow, January 13 (AZERTAC).”2010 year was important for development of Russia-Azerbaijan bilateral relations. First of all, it refers to signing of agreement on final border delimitation,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at an annual press conference in Moscow.
According to him, the deal on the border was rather a difficult issue but both sides were pleased to solve the problem, including Russian regions bordering Azerbaijan, in particular, Dagestan.
The Russia`s FM noted he hopes both countries would cooperate to step up its efforts to settle Caspian issue in accordance with the Caspian summit held in Baku.
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Sergey Lavrov said, “Russia, one of co-chairs, makes every effort together with USA and France to reach an agreement”.
“Along with participating in the “troika”, Russia, first of all, President Medvedev uses its relations with Yerevan and Baku in order to seek solutions, in accordance with the approaches agreed by co-chairs, in the format of presidents of the three countries - Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
According to him, Medvedev has held over ten meetings with his counterparts from Baku and Yerevan. The Foreign Ministers contact one another between these meetings. The next meeting of FMs will take place later this month.
“We intend to continue our efforts. We regularly inform about these efforts our partners from Washington and Paris. After each meeting of Presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, we hold briefings for co-chairs,” he said.
