2 killed in Croatia ultralight plane crash

Two people were confirmed dead after an ultralight aircraft crashed on Mount Velebit in coastal Croatia on Friday, according to the police, Xinhua reported.
The aircraft, registered as D-KWZE, was flying from the Czech Republic toward the Croatian coastal city of Zadar when Croatia Control, the country's air navigation service provider, lost its radar signal at around 4:14 p.m. local time (1414 GMT). The signal disappeared northeast of Zadar, prompting a large-scale search-and-rescue operation.
A coordinated team of police, firefighters and mountain rescuers used drones to search the rugged Paklenica area. Despite initial delays caused by bad weather, they located the wreckage and the two bodies at around 10 p.m. local time (2000 GMT).
Local police have secured the crash site. An official on-site investigation to determine all circumstances and facts of the accident is scheduled to begin on Saturday morning, the police added.
