AZERTAC’s “If I Were a Tourist” column turns its spotlight on the Mud Volcanoes Tourism Complex located in the Gobustan village of the Absheron region.
The Mud Volcanoes Tourism Complex in Azerbaijan covers an area of 12 hectares and includes an administrative building. The establishment of new tourism infrastructure has created over 60 local jobs, demonstrating tourism’s potential to boost local economies and provide employment opportunities, particularly for residents of nearby areas.
The Tourism Information Center of the complex features an exhibition hall and a workshop. The center offers visitors the chance to learn about the unique features, natural and therapeutic properties of mud volcanoes, and to view a model of one.
Azerbaijan’s Mud Volcanoes Tourism Complex also exhibits around 80 rare minerals collected from across the country. The display provides detailed information on each mineral sample, including its name, chemical composition, and geological origin. The workshop additionally hosts master classes in pottery and oil painting.
