After incidents against Barça: UEFA announce punishment for Frankfurt

UEFA has issued a verdict that hits Eintracht Frankfurt hard: SGE must play its next international away match without any traveling fans, according to One Football.
The penalty applies to the match on January 21, 2026, against Qarabağ in Baku, following serious fan incidents during the Champions League game against FC Barcelona.
The background to the decision is that Frankfurt supporters set off pyrotechnics, threw objects, and caused property damage in the away section during the match in Barcelona on December 9.
UEFA therefore imposed a ban on away fans for the match in Azerbaijan and supplemented the measure with a total fine of 38,000 euros.
The sanction is particularly significant from a sporting perspective, as Frankfurt absolutely needs to earn points in Baku to keep its chances of advancing in the Champions League alive – but will now have to play without the support of its own fans.
