AL-QAEDA SENDS MESSAGE TO TURKISH MEDIA
All Turkish reputable mass media received on December 4 a statement on behalf of Al-Qaeda to the effect that it had not been involved in September 11 terrorist attacks on USA, as well as in Indonesia, Tunis, Saudi Arabia and recently in Istanbul. It also says that Saddam Huseyn’s armed forces do not participate in any operations in Iraq, and that Al-Qaeda claims responsibility for resistance movement in Iraq, and anti US Army operations in Kuweit, Saudi Arabia, Somali and Yemen, as well as the attempts at some persons in Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
At present, authenticity of the statement is being investigated.
Meanwhile, Turkey’s law-enforcement bodies continue investigation of the recent terrorist attacks in Istanbul. Yusif Polad detained at the Turkey- Iran border has called the names of some terrorists. Some of them, Habib Aktash, Gurjan Baj and Abdulgadir Karatash are wanted by police.
