Baku, November 1, AZERTAC
The Arab media has widely covered Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s working visit to Sochi, as well as his remarks during the meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
The articles, published by “Al Ahram,” “Shurug”, “Al Ahad,” “Shehab,” “Al Ittihad,” “Al Balad” and other newspapers, quoted President Ilham Aliyev as saying: “Azerbaijan put forward five basic principles relatively recently, on the basis of which the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia should be normalized. These are the fundamental principles of international law, and I think that normalization can be achieved on this basis.”
“A trilateral declaration was signed two years ago, putting an end to the long-term conflict. It is now time to speak and act towards the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Karabakh conflict has already been consigned to history. It was resolved two years ago, so there is practically nothing to discuss in this context,” the Azerbaijani President emphasized.
The articles also mentioned that following the meetings held in Sochi a statement by the President of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation was signed.
The author said that according to the document, it was agreed to refrain from the use or the threat of using force, to discuss and resolve all problematic issues solely on the basis of mutual recognition of sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders in accordance with the UN Charter and the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991.
