Average price of PCs grows
Baku, December 16 (AZERTAC). Prices for personal computers in the United States increased during the last six months of 2010. Despite the fact that prices for other consumer electronics products reduce, even during the holiday sale prices for computers are on the increase. Thus, in November of 2010 the average price for a computer in the U.S. was $615 which is 6% higher than in the similar period a year ago - $580.
Growth was observed in the prices of laptops, PCs, notebooks, tablets is an exception to the list.
Price rate on PCs is an amazing event for the global computer market, which makes a turnover of $250 billion a year. Because throughout its history PC makers assiduously fought with constantly falling prices for computers, BFM reports.
Decline in prices in recent years has lead to reduction in profits of major manufacturers of the market, such as HP or Dell. Today these companies are specialized in the premium segments of the market and show strong financial growth.
The backward motion of the price of computers is largely associated with the stabilization of prices on laptops. So, HP plans to bring to the market a series of notebooks Envy at the price of
$ 999. The company representatives are confident that the new product will find its customers, despite the relatively high cost for the United States.
People began to realize that if they want to get highly productive machines with good graphics, they are unlikely to find it among the samples of low-price segment,” says HP vice-president Wayne Surdom.
Products from American Corporation Apple have become another catalyst for increasing the prices of PC. The producer appreciates its products highly and set prices above the market average. Besides, Apple was able to increase its presence in the PC market in the U.S. up to 10.4%.
According to Intel CEO Paul Otellini, the PC industry has reached a level of development, and the regular price reduction is coming to an end. The average price of Intel processors also declined, however in the last 4 quarters, it increased or remained unchanged. P.Otellini says increase of profit is linked with the fact that users prefer more productive PCs, which are embedded in more expensive chips. P. Otellini also noted that the price of laptops cannot fall below $ 299 because of production costs.
Analysts also say that price reduction on PC market hit the mark. Currently cheap computers are almost sold at cost price, which gives little scope for covering the costs of production.
