Azerbaijan and the Netherlands discuss consular cooperation

The first meeting on consular affairs between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands was held on June 22 in The Hague.
The meeting covered a number of issues of mutual interest, including the current state and prospects of consular cooperation, visa policy, as well as collaboration in the fields of labor, internal affairs, justice, and legal assistance.
The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Dutch delegation was led by Jeroen Roodenburg, Director for Consular Affairs and Visa Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The sides agreed to establish a bilateral cooperation mechanism aimed at further developing relations in the consular field.
During the delegation’s meeting with officials from the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the sides also discussed migration, readmission, and other related issues, while exchanging relevant experience.
On June 23, the delegation held meetings with the heads of the offices of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Netherlands.
On June 24, the delegation was received by Christophe Bernasconi, Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH). During the meeting, the Azerbaijani delegation was briefed on the organization's activities, and the sides exchanged views on Azerbaijan’s implementation of the international conventions administered by the HCCH, as well as on prospects for further cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization.
