Azerbaijan attends CeBIT Bilisim Eurasia-2011 as partner country
Istanbul, October 7 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan is attending CeBIT Bilisim Eurasia-2011 exhibition in Istanbul as a partner country. Azerbaijan`s delegation is led by minister of information and communication technologies Ali Abbasov.
Speaking to a conference as part of the exhibition, Turkish transport minister Binali Yildirim praised Azerbaijan`s ICT achievements. He said Azerbaijan and Turkey were contributing to increasing the region`s ICT potential.
Abbasov said developing ICT sector was among key priorities in President Ilham Aliyev`s policy.
“The President declared ICT number two priority after energy. As a result, Azerbaijan`s information and communication technologies sector grew at a rate of nearly 30 percent in the last 7 years.”
Joined by Yildirim and other countries` ministers, Abbasov officially opened Azerbaijan`s pavilion at the exhibition. Azerbaijan`s pavilion features stands by the country`s leading companies, including Azerkosmos, Azerpocht, Aztelecom, Azercell, Delta Telecom and Iteca Caspian.
On the sidelines of the exhibition Abbasov had a number of bilateral meetings with his foreign counterparts.
