Azerbaijan develops first voice-activated minicomputer
Baku, April 28 (AZERTAC). By the order and with support of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan and Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijani company NeyroTex has developed a test sample of the world`s first voice-controlled minicomputer, which is designed for blind and visually impaired people. The aim of developing such a minicomputer and introducing it to the public on the eve of the birthday of Azerbaijani prominent scientist-ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva is to provide blind and visually impaired people with equal opportunities for use of information and communication technologies.
The distinguishing characteristic of this minicomputer from other ones is the lack of a monitor and keyboard and use of microphone for computer control. Software and all the sound commands of the computer are in Azerbaijani language.
By means of the mini-computer through voice commands one can get acquainted with the latest news in online regime, use e-mail, voice e-texts, receive calls and respond to them. In the future it is planned to realize the possibility of translation of texts by means of a computer in English and Russian languages.
