Azerbaijan, Italy discuss cooperation

As part of his visit to Italy, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Lorenzo Fontana, President of Italian Chamber of Deputies.
The sides discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy, as well as the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period.
They also noted the important role of parliamentary diplomacy, along with high-level contacts, visits and dialogue, in enhancing existing multidimensional strategic partnership.
The parties described the significance of parliamentary diplomacy and reciprocal visits between parliamentary speakers and representatives, as one of the main pillars of the strategic partnership.
According to them, successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in the political, economic, energy, trade, transport, communications and humanitarian spheres is commendable.
The sides highlighted the long-term cooperation in the energy sector, especially Azerbaijan’s important role in Europe's energy security, emphasizing that the establishment of the Italy-Azerbaijan University, which is of great importance in bilateral relations, has given additional impetus to the strategic partnership.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided insight into the post Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the key outcomes of the historic Washington meeting, and the ongoing large-scale restoration and construction efforts in the liberated territories.
The sides also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
