AZERBAIJAN JOINED INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVE
In his speech, Chairman of the Fund Samir Sharifov stated that Azerbaijan joined the Initiative for Transparency at the industrial branches occupying in mineral resources production. This initiative was for the first time suggested by Prime Minister of Great Britain Tony Blair at the world summit for long-term development held in Johannesburg of the South African Republic, on September 2002.
Key goal of the initiative is to raise transparency of incomes and payments coming from this branch in the countries occupying mineral resources production. The government of Azerbaijan took commitments and created a relevant commission for its implementation.
It should be reminded on participation of Azerbaijan delegation lead by Ilham Aliyev at the International Conference in London, on July 2003, held under motto “Transparency initiatives in industries in mineral resources production” with the participation of 31 states of world, authoritative private companies occupying in the field of ore production, international financial institute, including representatives of IMF, WB, transnational NGOs.
According to the Chairman of fund, in connection with the mineral resources exploitation, the Commission on the base of the gathered materials has to close the account on returns and other payments, which has to be published in press. Besides, according to the Decree, the Commission has to open the website.
