AZERBAIJAN NATIONAL JUDO TEAM RANKS FIRST IN INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT

International Bogazici judo tournament has wrapped up. 18-strong Azerbaijan national team is coached by Agayar Akhunzadeh, Ibadulla Shahbanov and Hajiaga Hajiahmedov.

In men’s section, Ramil Gasimov (66 kg), Zaur Pashayev (81 kg), Elkhan Mammadov (90 kg) snatched gold medals while Teymur Bagirli (60 kg), Mammad Mammadov (66 kg) claimed silver and Araz Mukhtarov (73 kg), Gadir Gadirov (90 kg), Zaur Tagiyev (100 kg) won bronze medals.

Azerbaijani female judoist Sona Ahmedli beat all her contenders to mount the highest step on the podium while Shahane Almammadova (52 kg), Ramila Yusubova (57 kg) bagged bronze medals.

In terms of number of medals gained, Azerbajani men’s team ranked first while female judoists were third.
