Azerbaijan, indeed, closely cooperates with NATIO in the frame of “PfP” program, major general F. Yaniz said. Currently we attach great importance to analyse and planning process, as well as private activity plan of Partnership. Participation of Azerbaijani servicemen in the Balkans is evidence to that. We know that Azerbaijan’s participation in these arrangements become possible due to great strength and efforts. We shall constantly support you. We know well that as partners we need each other. Conduction of the “Cooperative Best Effort-04” exercises in Azerbaijan heralds from the cooperation in the coming years.
Mr. Safar Abiyev updated the guest on the military-political situation in the South Caucasus, support by some states of the aggressive policy of Armenia, stationing of armed forces weapons and ammunition in the occupied territories, on training of terrorist groups in these areas, use of them for transit of narcotics and other questions.
The Minister said: “Azerbaijan is persistently integrating to the European security bodies, cooperates with them. This shows independent policy Azerbaijan peruses. But we express with great regret that the international structures do not recognize Armenia as an aggressor state. Even the PfP Program reminds: “The partner states should refrain from use of force against territorial integrity of each other and should recognize the existing borders”. We consider that NATO should not have indifferent position in this question and exert pressure of the aggressive Armenia”.
Independence of Azerbaijan and pursuance of independent policy by Azerbaijan is a fact, the major general F. Yaniz stated. “The worlds community appreciates it. Your country aspires to deepen cooperation with the partner states. This will promote development of your armed forces”.
Noting that as a result of development of Azerbaijan’s economy, independence of the Country has strengthened, the Armed Forces have become strong, the defence minister of Azerbaijan stressed that aggressive policy of Armenia is a thereat for stability in the South Caucasus. Therefore, we must cooperate to prevent this threat, he emphasized.
