Azerbaijan, Switzerland discuss key priorities for advancing economic cooperation

President of the Swiss Confederation and Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research Guy Parmelin received Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov.
The meeting focused on key issues on the Azerbaijan-Switzerland bilateral agenda. The sides discussed opportunities to further strengthen cooperation based on mutual respect and trust, particularly in trade, investment, intergovernmental cooperation and humanitarian ties.
Minister Mikayil Jabbarov also met with Andrea Rauber Saxer, Federal Council Delegate for Trade Agreements and Head of the Bilateral Economic Relations Division at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.
The sides exchanged views on priority areas for advancing the Azerbaijan-Switzerland economic partnership. They emphasized the importance of strengthening business-to-business ties, increasing mutual investment and launching new joint initiatives to deepen economic cooperation.
As part of the visit, the 10th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Switzerland Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held. The sides discussed priorities for economic partnership, trade and investment ties, as well as opportunities to expand cooperation both bilaterally and through international financial institutions.
New opportunities for cooperation in industry, energy, the digital economy, innovation, agriculture and tourism were highlighted. Azerbaijan’s investment environment, strategic transport links, green energy potential and digital transformation initiatives were also presented, along with state support mechanisms for business development, including in the Garabagh and East Zangezur economic regions.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the Protocol of the 10th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Switzerland Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
