Azerbaijani, Turkish FMs discuss strategic alliance agenda

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and Türkiye’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan held an expanded meeting with the participation of the two countries’ delegations on September 15.
The ministers discussed the broad agenda of the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, established under the leadership and vision of the Presidents and enshrined in the Shusha Declaration.
During the discussions, the parties addressed political dialogue, economic and trade relations, investments, energy, transport and logistics, security and defense, humanitarian cooperation, as well as coordination within international and regional organizations.
The ministers emphasized the importance of institutional mechanisms such as the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, political consultations between the foreign ministries, and the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
The parties exchanged views on cooperation within the United Nations, the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the OSCE, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the D-8, and other international and regional organizations.
The foreign ministers underscored the contribution of trilateral and quadrilateral cooperation formats, such as Azerbaijan–Georgia–Türkiye, Azerbaijan–Pakistan–Türkiye, and Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan–Türkiye, to regional security, economic development, and connectivity.
The meeting also addressed the progress achieved over the past year in the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as practical steps to be taken to ensure lasting peace and regional cooperation.
The ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and other regions, new geopolitical realities, and ongoing conflicts.
The parties reaffirmed their shared position that conflicts and military confrontations should be resolved through political and diplomatic means.
