Event commemorating the 108th anniversary of the liberation of Baku from Bolshevik-Dashnak formations on 15 September 1918 was held at the Azerbaijan Military History Museum, the Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.
The event was attended by cadets of the Baku Military College of the National Defense University, museum staff, and representatives of the public.
The ceremony commenced with a one-minute silence in honour of the memory of National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and Martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the Motherland.
Addressing the gathering, Chief of the Azerbaijan Military History Museum, Retired Colonel Elshad Panahov noted that 1918 holds a particularly significant place in the history of Azerbaijani statehood. He stated that, despite facing exceptional challenges, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic achieved a major historic victory with the assistance of the Caucasian Islamic Army, commanded by Nuru Pasha, which liberated Baku from the forces of the Centrocaspian Dictatorship, Bolshevik-Dashnak formations, and British forces.
Other speakers also delivered detailed presentations on the subject and responded to questions from the participants.
The event concluded with performances of patriotic songs by the soloists of the Hazi Aslanov Army Ideological and Cultural Center.
