Azerbaijan `to raise` issue of 13-year-old girl`s murder by Armenians
Baku, July 15 (AZERTAC). The issue of a tragic death of a 13-year-old Azerbaijani girl as a result of an act of vandalism by Armenians in Tovuz District will be raised with international organizations, said Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva.
13-year-old Aygun Shahmaliyeva died a tragic death and her mother 32-year-old Elnara Shahmaliyeva sustained a severe injury after a toy dog with explosive device installed inside and dropped into the Tovuz River that flows through Alibayli village, exploded on 14 July.
Pashayeva said the issue would be raised with the Parliament Assembly of the Council of Europe and all other international organizations.
The MP said that along with government bodies Azerbaijan`s diaspora organizations and NGOs should also carry out an awareness-raising campaign about this act of vandalism.
This is not a first brutal murder of an Azerbaijani child by Armenians, the MP added.
“A similar incident happened in the same area several years ago. Two children were killed and one was injured in an explosion while trying to take a toy dropped into the river by the Armenian side. In addition, 9-year-old resident of Bash Garvand village of Agdam District Fariz Badalov was killed by an Armenian sniper while playing in the yard of his house on 8 March this year. This is yet another proof that Armenia pursues a policy aimed at murdering innocent children,” said Pashayeva.
The MP called international organizations to press Armenia to respect international legal norms.
“Unfortunately, the fact that international organizations, in particular, OSCE Minsk Group, do not respond to Armenians` acts of vandalism and their indifferent attitude encourages Armenia to commit further atrocities against humanity before the eyes of the international community,” Pashayeva added.
