AZERBAIJAN, UKRAINE: RELATIONS TO EXPAND
Warmly greeting the guest, Murtuz Alaskarov said that the relations between two countries have acquired level of alliance. Particular contributions in this have the nationwide leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and President Leonid Kuchma. New President of Azerbaijan also adhering this tradition and will try for further development of these links. Azerbaijan wishes Ukraine to join the regional economic projects it realizes and from the political standpoint, the item has been solved.
Touching upon the inter-parliamentary links Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament expressed his consent with the cooperation of parliamentarians of both countries at the international arena, also updated on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict and Azerbaijan’s position related to the question. Mr. Alaskarov expressed his gratitude to the head of state of Ukraine, parliament and government, for supporting position of Azerbaijan, as well as for care for the Azerbaijanis residing in this country.
Expressing his gratitude for cordial reception, Gennadiy Moskal notified the role of President Heydar Aliyev and the head of Ukrainian state Leonid Kuchma in the present level of the bilateral relations. He also noted that these links would develop in the years ahead. Underlining that representatives of 134 nations live in Ukraine, the guest said that all of them have equal rights and equal conditions. 45 Azerbaijanis residing in Ukraine have Ukraine citizenship, he stressed. The Ukrainians, living in 150 world countries, including Azerbaijan, regard with respect the laws of these countries, and always support statehood principles of those countries.
Mr. Gennadiy Moskal expressed gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan, government and parliament of Azerbaijan, o behalf of the officials of his country for conditions set up for the Ukrainians in Azerbaijan.
The parties exchanged views on a number of other issues.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Boris Aleksenko, head of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Ukraine Ogtay Efendiyev participated at the meeting.
