In accordance with the recommendations of the second congress of the World Azerbaijanis, the representatives of the Kharkov division of the Congress of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis as well as Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Dispora, Dostlug, Yeni Azerbaijan and Nur Azerbaijan communities gathered for a meeting to discuss the issue of uniting Azerbaijani communities of Kharkov into the single organization, the State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Living Abroad reported.

A group of Azerbaijanis applied to the State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Living Abroad, Azerbaijani embassy in Ukraine and chairman of the Congress of the Ukrainian Azerbaijanis (CUA) for uniting our compatriots into the single center.

The meeting was attended by officials of the embassy, State Committee and CUA. Malik Dursunov, member of the initiative group, delivered a report on this matter.

Ambassador to Ukraine Talat Aliyev said this initiative is consistent with the tasks arising from President Ilham Aliyev’s report at the second congress of world Azerbaijanis.

Nazim Garakhanov, chief of the department at the State Committee, noted the second congress gave an impetus to the process of uniting our compatriots and described the initiative of Azerbaijani communities of Kharkov as manifestation of this process.

CUA chairman Ogtay Efendiyev noted there are lots of scientists, businessmen in Kharkov, saying this unity will establish the groundwork for solidarity of our compatriots.

The discussions were followed by reaching a decision to initiate Azerbaijani communities of Kharkov into the CUA local division.

Azerbaijani communities of Dnepropetrovsk are also expected to unite into a single organization shortly.
