Azerbaijani FM attends GUAM-Japan meeting

Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has attended a meeting of GUAM-Japan Ministerial Council on the sidelines of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The "GUAM-Japan Joint Press Release" was adopted during the meeting. According to the press release, the sides reconfirmed the recognized norms and principles of international law, including those in the UN Charter, in particular the principles of respect to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of internationally recognized borders of states.

The sides also stressed the importance of the GUAM-Japan cooperation, which is aimed at ensuring peace, security and stability on both regional and international levels. They also stressed the necessity of implementing new projects for widening and deepening cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, energy, emergency situations, tourism, transport, culture, agriculture, health care and environment.
