Azerbaijani FM meets Georgian counterpart
Baku, January 19 (AZERTAC). Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met Wednesday Georgian counterpart Grigol Vashadze.
The ministers gave an interview to journalists after the meeting.
Mammadyarov said they discussed results of the last year on relations between the two countries and plans for 2011. He praised the relationship between Azerbaijan and Georgia and said the two countries had successful cooperation on implementation of energy projects in the region.
The discussions also focused on the two countries` sharing the same position on issues of mutual interest. The also underlined the possibility of implementation of joint projects.
The sides stressed the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project.
They also exchanged news on the current state of the negotiations process to settle the conflicts.
They also discussed regional, global and other issues of mutual interest.
Vashadze, in turn, said they had very fruitful discussions.
He noted “we went through the legal basis of Georgian-Azerbaijan cooperation, thoroughly discussed our cooperation within international organizations and economic projects in which the driving forces are Azerbaijan and Georgia”.
Vashadze said the development processes in Azerbaijan`s energy sector had very great impact on development of the Georgian economy.
He underlined there is a very specific instruction for Georgian citizens not to visit any conflict zones including Nagorno-Karabakh without permission of the Azerbaijani government.
