Azerbaijani presidential election in foreign spotlight
Baku, October 9 (AZERTAC). The presidential election in Azerbaijan has made headlines of foreign press and TV channels, including Euronews, Reuters, as well as several news agencies and television channels in the U.S., Turkey, the United Kingdom, Russia and other countries.
Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) said: “Polling stations opened at 8:00 local time as Azerbaijanis are electing the country’s president for the seventh time after regaining independence.” TRT said Azerbaijan created an excellent environment for holding absolutely democratic, fair and transparent elections at polling stations. The channel hailed the application of indelible ink in all polling stations.
Russian news agency ITAR-TASS focused on the installation of web cameras in 1,000 polling stations in the country. The agency said the Azerbaijani government took every possible measure to ensure security of voters.
Another Russian news agency RIA Novosti said 1,400 international observers are holding exit-polls in Azerbaijan.
Euronews made a video report praising the living standard in Azerbaijan, and the country`s economic boom. “Between 2003 and 2012, Azerbaijan’s national income per person went from something near 600 euros per year to approaching 6,000 euros - the world’s biggest rise in that time.” “Smart-looking parts of the capital of Azerbaijan show the oil wealth: modern buildings next to proud historical ones, luxury cars and hotels and boutiques.”
