Azerbaijani representatives attend Global Volunteering Conference in Budapest
Baku, September 23 (AZERTAC). Representatives of Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society (AzRCS) attended Global Volunteering Conference titled “Volunteering for a Sustainable Future” in Hungary`s capital.
The event was co-organized by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Programme and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
Delegates from some 80 countries gathered to discuss ways to strengthen links with governments and the international community and agree on a Declaration of Action on how institutions can better encourage and support volunteers in the future.
The Azerbaijani representative made presentation on use Internet and modern technologies to involve volunteers.
The participants were informed on AGCS`s activity and Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan On Voluntary Activities.
UNV is a United Nations organization that advocates the role and benefits of volunteerism for development, integrates volunteers into development programmes, and mobilizes volunteers for development projects. It was created to be a development partner for UN organizations by providing volunteers into their development programmes. UN Volunteers help to organize and run local and national elections and support a large number of peacekeeping and humanitarian projects. UN Volunteers comprise one third of all international civilians working in UN peacekeeping operations.
