“Babek” tanker returns to service following overhaul

The “Babek” tanker, operated by the Marine Transportation Fleet of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), an AZCON Holding company, has undergone a major overhaul.
According to ASCO, as part of the overhaul, the tanker’s main and auxiliary engines were overhauled, the propeller shaft was aligned and reinstalled, and the electrical equipment was renewed. Piping installation works were also carried out on deck and in the engine room.
In addition, the vessel’s underwater and above-water hull sections, deck, and engine room were cleaned and repainted. The crew’s living quarters and service areas were also refurbished in line with modern standards.
Following the overhaul at the Zigh Ship Repair and Construction Yard, the tanker successfully completed sea trials and was returned to service.
The “Babek” tanker is 150 metres long and 17 metres wide, with a cargo-carrying capacity of 13,000 tonnes.
