Baku hosts 9th Annual International Conference of Ombudsmen
Baku, June 16 (AZERTAC). The 9th Annual International Baku Conference of Ombudsmen on the "Cultural Rights of National Minorities and Migrants: The Legal Aspects and Implementation" has started today.
The Conference is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the independence of Azerbaijan, June 18- Human Rights day and 45th anniversary of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Rights.
Opening remarks were made at the event by Azerbaijani Ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, Ali Hasanov, Culture and Tourism Minister, Abulfas Garayev, Chairwoman of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children, Hijran Huseynova, programme specialist for social and humanitarian sciences UNESCO Moscow Office, Alla Ampar, first secretary of the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, Gunay Afandiyeva.
The conference continued with plenary sessions.
The event participants heard relevant reports.
The conference will last until June 18.
