BAKU HOSTS AZERBAIJAN-TURKEY BUSINESS FORUM
The Azerbaijan-Turkey business forum officially supported by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development and Turkish embassy in Baku and organized by the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation took place Thursday at the Baku Entertainment Center in Baku.
The forum was attended by visiting Turkish State Minister Gursad Tuzmen as well as some 90 Turkish experts secularizing in the energy, transport, health care, construction, agriculture, telecommunication, finance and about 200 entrepreneurs from Azerbaijan.
Economic Development Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev said commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisii-Ceyhan oil pipeline and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum gas pipeline and implementation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project are the clear evidence of strategic partnership between Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Mustafayev briefed meting participants on the social and economic reforms started by national leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, and business development projects. Minister pointed out the world bank doing business report placed Azerbaijan 33rd and named the country as the world`s top reformer.
Turkish Minister Tuzmen noted Turkish businessmen invested over 2 billion dollars into the economy of Azerbaijan. According to him, Turkey-Azerbaijan trade turnover exceeds $1bln. Tuzmen called on businessmen to use existing opportunities to expand trade turnover.
Turkish Deputy Undersecretary of Foreign Trade Omer Faruk Dogan touched on the investment climate and business opportunities in Turkey while AZPROMO President Emil Majidov briefed on prospects and opportunities for foreign investors in Azerbaijan.
Turkish and Azerbaijani businessmen had bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the forum.
