Baku to host international conference on Caspian climate
Baku, November 30 (AZERTAC). An international conference on "Management of the climate change mitigation initiatives of Caspian oil and gas companies - an inter-regional exchange of experience" is kicking off today in Azerbaijan`s capital. The conference is co-organized by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), German Institute for Economic Researches (DIW econ GmbH) and GGFR Global Gas Flaring Reduction (GGFR) Partnership of Wold Bank.
The aim of the conference is to share experiences between oil and gas companies of the region and major Western oil and gas companies in formulating their commitment to GHG reduction and setting up strategies and management systems in order to incorporate the respective activities into the decision making schemes and procedures of the companies. The discussion will focus on incentive schemes, standards and best practice how to initiate reduction activities on a permanent basis.
The conference will bring together ministries, Caspian oil and gas companies as well as delegates from the World Bank and Germany`s Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Nuclear Safety.
