Barcelona, Spotify sign sponsorship deal, club stadium to be renamed
Spanish football team Barcelona will be sponsored by music streaming service Spotify as the parties signed a partnership deal Tuesday, the club said, according to Anadolu Agency.
"FC Barcelona and Spotify, the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service, have reached an agreement for the Swedish company to become the Main Partner of the Club and the Official Audio Streaming Partner," Barcelona said in a statement on its website.
The club said ‘Spotify’ will appear on the front of Barcelona men's and women's team shirts for the next four seasons.
The sponsorship agreement will begin in the 2022-23 season.
Barcelona's training shirts will also be sponsored by Spotify.
Barca said that according to the agreement, the club's gigantic football stadium will be renamed Spotify Camp Nou.
The venue's name will be changed for the first time in Barcelona's history.
Camp Nou, which has a capacity of nearly 99,000, has been Barcelona’s home since 1957.
The Stockholm-based company confirmed that it has 406 million users, including 180 million paid subscribers.
