British Airways says snow and ice to cost $77m
Baku, January 7 (AZERTAC). British Airways PLC says the disruption caused by heavy snow and icy conditions in Britain, Europe and North America that closed some airports and disrupted others in December will cost the airline some STG50 million ($A77.59 million).
BA said on Thursday that passenger traffic fell by 8.3 per cent last month compared to December 2009 - comprising a 1.6 per cent decrease in premium traffic and a 9.6 per cent drop in non-premium traffic. Cargo fell by 10.2 per cent.
BA says it will take most of the financial hit from the December adverse weather in its third quarter earnings, but there will be some additional impact in January from canceled return journeys.

It adds that underlying market conditions remain positive.
