Bulgarian PM Poulev discusses Economic cooperation with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investments, and Industry Alexander Poulev met with the Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China, Ding Xuexiang, in Beijing, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported citing the press centre of the Ministry of Economy, Investments, and Industry on Thursday. The two discussed opportunities to deepen bilateral economic cooperation and attract new Chinese investments to Bulgaria.
Key topics at the meeting included investment opportunities in the automotive industry, energy, high-tech sectors, decarbonization, and industrial cooperation, the press center reported.
Poulev highlighted Bulgaria's political will to deepen its relations with China and noted the potential for more active practical development of these ties. He remarked that the current climate creates favourable conditions for new initiatives and the expansion of bilateral cooperation. Poulev said that since the establishment of the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and China during then President Rumen Radev's visit to China in 2019, relations between the two countries have developed steadily.
Particular emphasis was placed on attracting investment in the production of electric vehicles and related technologies. Poulev said that developing cooperation in this sector is crucial and that Bulgaria is open to investments that create new jobs, generate high added value, and contribute to technology transfer.
The Chinese Vice Premier described the current moment as an excellent opportunity for mutually beneficial cooperation between Bulgaria and China. He noted Bulgaria's role as a key partner for China in Southeast Europe and welcomed the Bulgarian government's efforts to attract investment in the field of electric mobility.
The two men agreed on the need to more actively develop practical relations and to translate political dialogue and the strategic partnership into concrete economic projects.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Tourism, Ilin Dimitrov, as well as deputy ministers responsible for the economy, investment and industry, energy, regional development, and agriculture. Deputy Prime Minister Poulev is in Beijing, leading the Bulgarian delegation to the 19th session of the Bulgarian-Chinese Intergovernmental Mixed Commission for Economic Cooperation.
