Cabinet of Ukraine approves Memorandum of gas delivery from Azerbaijan
Kiev, December 1 (AZERTAC). The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the Intergovernmental Memorandum with Azerbaijan on cooperation in the organization of natural gas delivery to Ukraine, the first deputy of the Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine Sergiy Chekh stated on December 1 in Kiev to journalists.
"The Memorandum was adopted. We admit that Azerbaijan has serious intentions to enter this market", he underlined.
According to the first deputy of the minister, the Memorandum provides readiness of Azerbaijan to deliver to Ukraine up to 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year.
As earlier reported, the minister of the industry and energy of Azerbaijan Natig Aliyev late November has informed on plans of Azerbaijan and Ukraine to sign two intergovernmental agreements concerning the further cooperation on oil-gas delivery from Azerbaijan on the Ukrainian market. In particular, he specified that Azerbaijan intends to deliver to Ukraine about 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually in connection with plans of Ukraine to construct the SPG-Terminal.
Speaking about gas delivery on the territory of Ukraine, Natig Aliyev reminded that Azerbaijan already implements such project with three countries - Azerbaijan, Georgia and Romania - with building of the large terminal on Black Sea.
"Naftogaz of Ukraine" estimates cost of building of the SPG-Terminal with capacity of 10 billion cubic meters of gas a year at amount about 2,5 billion dollars.
Projecting of the SPG-Terminal will be carried out in 2012. Its first stage will be built during 2013- 2015, the second - during 2015-2016. Gas contracts on delivery is planned to conclude in the second quarter of 2012 - the first quarter of 2013.
