Canada doesn`t recognize independence of Nagorno Karabakh separatist regime
Baku, February 19 (AZERTAC). The ministry of foreign affairs and international trade of Canada does nor recommends its citizens to visit the Nagorno Karabakh and other adjacent regions of Azerbaijan, the Ministry`s official website reports.
The statement informs that the borders of Azerbaijan and Armenia remain closed military zone because of the protracted Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Despite the ceasefire regime in effect since 1994 the armed clashes along the border with Armenia continues and today.
The statement also reports that Canada does not recognize independence of the separatist regime in Nagorno Karabakh. To this end, the government of Canada has limited opportunities to render consular consultations to the Canadians who may appear in these territories. The Canadian government warns its citizens on impossibility of visiting Azerbaijan in lack of visa in the passport granted by acting (but not elected) authorities of Nagorno Karabakh.
Earlier similar recommendations were made by the Foreign Ministries of France, Germany, the Great Britain, Spain, Italy and Hungary not to visit the Armenia-occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
