CEC CHAIRMAN HELD NEWS CONFERENCE
In his address to the media representatives, the CEC chairman said that a landmark event occurred in the life of Azerbaijani people, and Presidential elections were held. I consider that electors of Azerbaijan have made a historical choice. The electors demonstrated their will under the observation of 44 thousand local, over thousand international observers, hundreds of foreign and local media representatives and voted for worthy candidature.
During the voting process, lasting from 8.00 am to 19.00 pm, 71 percent of the electors had already voted. The counting of votes passed in the eyes of observers and public figures. The results were informed immediately.
Noting that the elections passed in high level, CEC chairman expressed his gratitude to the observer missions, including PACE, OSCE, CIS Parliamentary Assembly, staff members of the diplomatic corps functioning in Azerbaijan, as well as media representatives.
Free and democratic elections were held in Azerbaijan, CEC chairman stressed. Official appeals to the CEC were not registered.
Then, he announced the election conclusions. According to the conclusions, Aliyev Ilham Heydar oglu garnered 2 million 283 thousand 820 votes, or 79,5 %, Hajiyev Hafiz Alamdar oglu 9 thousand 615 votes, or 0,33%, Hasanguliyev Gudret - 13 thousand 226 votes, or, 0,46%, Ismailov Ilyas - 23 thousand 579 votes, or 0,82%, Gambar Isa Yunus oglu - 346 thousand 566 votes, or 12,06 %, Mammadov Etibar - 78 thousand 169 votes, or 2,72%, Rustamkhanli Sabir Khudu oglu - 22 thousand 261 votes, or, 0,78%.
These are preliminary results and the data continues going. In the near hours, we shall get the voting results from the foreign election stations.
According to the preliminary conclusions, Ilham Aliyev was leading among the pretenders. Chairman of CEC said. I promise once again that the elections will be fair and transparent.
