CHAIRMAN OF MILLI MAJLIS RECEIVED MEMBERS OF PACE DELEGATION
Warmly welcoming the guests, Murtuz Alasgarov reminded on the meetings held with the members of delegation on the eve of the Presidential elections in Azerbaijan. Chairman of Milli Majlis stated that overwhelming majority, over thousand foreigners, 40 thousand locals observed the elections held in accordance with the requirements of the Election Code, which has been positively appreciated by the Council of Europe, as well as observing mission of CE was pleased with the results of the elections.
Mr. Alasgarov also stated that Central Election Committee examined process of election in detail and annulled results of the elections in 600 constituencies, which has not influenced on the results of the elections.
Having expressed his gratitude, head of PACE delegation Andreas Gross stated that aim of the visit is to discuss some issues before January session of the Assembly.
Other member of the delegation, Turkish deputy Mevlud Chavushoglu noted that as an observer of the elections, he was pleased with the results of the elections, but some problems have also taken place. Aim of the visit is to clarify these problems, as well as role of the Parliament in conducting of dialogue between government and opposition and other issues.
